Welcome Autumn - Papertrey Ink

Good morning friends!

It's a sunny, but crisp Autumn morning here, and I'm finally feeling the spirit of the season, as I've been putting away all the Summer decor around our home, and slowly shifting to more earthy tones. Even the baking around here has changed...From Summery rhubarb crisp to plenty of spiced things.

I love that we get to experience the beauty of the seasons changing. Even though I long for a warm sunny days most of the year, I don't know that I would ever be ready to say goodbye to the turning leaves, or the smell of fresh Autumn rain that comes with Seasons changing. It has been just SO beautiful around here the last couple of weeks. My morning walks are that much more special with the kaleidoscope of colors that Autumn brings.

And when the days became too cool to enjoy the outdoors, I can't think of anything more satisfying than snuggling up in a cozy sweater beside the crackling fire, with a cup of mulled cider, and a pile of paper and scissors in my hands.

I created these little cards in lieu of my love of this beautiful season.
And I can't even put into words how much I love these little pumpkins. They are exactly as jovial and celebratory as I feel when Autumn rolls around.

To create these, I picked two patterns of paper, and traced pumpkin stencils onto them to be cut out. Then I played with some stamps, inks and buttons to decorate the pumpkins.

In this first card, I used a mix of buttons, gold jingle bells, string, and a few stamped details.

The little leaves are embossed with a copper shade, while the wreath below is embossed in white.

On this card, I used Papertrey Ink's Stitched Sentiments for the wreath and hoop, and Leave it Be stamp and die for the pretty leaves.

Here I used the same stamps from Papertrey Ink, as well as a couple of small, older stamps from My Mind's Eye

I used the inside portions of the chipboard pumpkin (which I used as my stencil) to trace out vellum bits so that it would provide a little more dimension and soften the bold, floral paper.

I also deliberately over-stamped the sentiment, so that the embossed edges would look like just a bit of snow gathering around the edges. I added a soft line of white ink to each of the vellum bits, to mimic some more snow.

Hope you're enjoying the turning leaves wherever you are.

Thank you for visiting!

Ivana

Just a quick note:

I am so grateful to be surrounded by loved ones this Autumn season and I know that is not the case for many families and victims of the Las Vegas tragedy. I hope that you and all of yours are safe and my thoughts and prayers go out to all the families affected by this tragic event.
I don't often do this here, but I feel it's so important for all of us to come together and help whenever we can, especially in light of such events.
If you are able to, please join me, and consider supporting the victims here.

    1. Oh Dara Lynn, it's so heartbreaking, isn't it? Senseless is such a good way to put it. I hope your loved ones are safe and sound and that the families who lost loved ones are comforted and surrounded by kind souls such as yourself. Sending big hugs to you and everyone in your country.

    1. Karen, a food of snow?!?! O my gosh, I suppose it must have been the same or similar storm that passed through a portion of Canada - so many folks to the west of us got piles of snow as well...We're luckily still ok here :) But I am so happy you're in the Autumn mood and I hope your snowfall will melt and you will get to enjoy a few more days of fall splendor! Thank you so much for your kind note! Sending big hugs! xo
